U.S. Postal Service Proposes New Rates for 2019!

It’s that time of year again; postage rate increases are on the horizon

Brace yourselves – this year may be a doozy for some of you who rely on first-class mail. The USPS is proposing an aggressive hike on first-class stamps – a 10% increase over 2018 – raising the cost from 50 cents to 55 cents per piece.

If you haven’t yet taken advantage of the cost savings provided by presorting your mail – now is the time to act. The increase for first-class presort mail is far less dramatic, only rising four hundredths of a cent from 42.4 cents to 42.8. This extra step can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars in postage - especially if these new rates are approved.

While these proposed rates are still under review and not quite set in stone, it’s a good idea to adjust your 2019 postage budgets now, before they go into effect on January 27.
